Do I need a permit for my project?

Structural changes, new or lowered basements, second units, additions, new entrances and many layout changes need a building permit. Call us and we will tell you before you spend anything.

How does the permit process work?

After a free call or site visit, we measure the existing conditions, prepare the drawings and add structural engineering and a P.Eng. stamp where needed. We then submit the application to your city and answer the examiner's comments until the permit is issued.

Which cities do you file permits in?

Mississauga, Oakville, Brampton, Milton, Burlington, Toronto, Ajax and other GTA municipalities.

Why have an engineer prepare my drawings?

Beams, underpinning and foundations must be designed by an engineer anyway. With us there is no hand-off between a designer and a separate engineer, which means fewer delays and revisions.

Can you fix a rejected permit or work done without a permit?

Yes. We review the examiner's or inspector's comments and prepare the revised drawings or the engineering response needed to move your file forward.

Can you also build the project?

Yes. EXA Takaful Canada is also a contractor with WSIB coverage and insurance, so one team can take your project from drawings and permit to the final inspection.
